Send a mark of love to a friend or loved one on Valentine's Day. Several cities and towns offer special postmarks for the holiday through a remailing program.

Many cities and towns in the United State have romantic-sounding names, such as Loveland, Colorado; Darling, Mississippi; and Romance, Arkansas. A number of these towns and cities will remail Valentine's Day cards and letters using their special postmark. To participate in the remailing program, stamp, address cards and letters as normal and place in a larger envelope or box. Mail the larger envelope or package to the Postmaster at the participating post office.

Packages are not accepted for remailing. Bundles should be mailed to the remailing post office in early February in order to reach the final destination in time for Valentine's Day.

Loveland, Colorado

The most popular city participating in the Valentine's Day remailing program, Loveland adds a special postmark to an average 200,000 cards and letters each year. Each year the Loveland Chamber of Commerce sponsors a local contest to find the best verse and design for the romantic postmark. Senior volunteers hand stamp each piece of mail with the winning design.
